2023 Summer Opportunities

Sign up now for the 2023 SCPS Summer Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS). The Pre-Employment Transition Services are offered by Seminole County Public Schools as a provider for Vocational Rehabilitation. 

We are offering Career Camps and Work Based Learning Experiences over the summer for our SCPS students. Students must be between the ages of 14-21, be currently enrolled in school, have an active IEP or 504, and are a client of VR/Pre-ETS. Families must provide their own transportation. Limited seats available. Seats are filling up fast so be sure to register as soon as possible. 

Students can participate in one Career Camp and multiple Work Based Learning Experiences. Please view the information below and flyers attached for more detailed information. 

Career Camp

SCPS Transition Team is excited to announce a new summer opportunity. SCPS will be offering Career Camps. These Career Camps are available in 20-hour and 50-hour opportunities. Career Camps are designed to support students with Self- Advocacy, Work Readiness Training, Post Secondary Education Counseling, Job Exploration and Work Based Learning Experiences. The Transition Team is partnering with CTE (Career and Technical Education) to make the Career Camps an opportunity where your student will gain valuable experience in select CTE fields. Career Camps will be offered at Lake Howell High School with the CTE focus being Cosmetology and Culinary and Oviedo High School with the CTE focus being Automotive and TV Production. 

20-Hour Career Camp

Students that complete the 20-hour Career Camp will receive a $200 gift card. This camp is 10 hours of Work Readiness Training and 10 hours of Work Based Learning Experiences. 

20 Hour Career Camps will be offered:

  • June 5th-June 8th 
  • June 12th-June 15th 
  • June 19th-June 22nd 
  • June 26th-June 29th 

50-Hour Career Camp

Students that complete the 50-hour Career Camp will receive a $500 gift card. This camp will provide Self- Advocacy Skills, Work Readiness Training, Post Secondary Education Counseling, Job Exploration and Work Based Learning Experiences.  

50 Hour Career Camps will be offered: 

  • June 5th- June 16th 
  • June 19th- June 30th

Work Based Learning Experiences

This training provides practical exposure to different careers and hands-on training for employability skills at local businesses in Seminole County with a trained job coach. These experiences also focus on practicing social skills and building relationships. Students that complete a 20-hour WBLE will receive a $100 gift card. Students may sign up for multiple experiences. 

Work Based Learning Experiences will be available June 5th - July 31st.

What happens after I complete the registration form above: You will receive an e-mail from the Transition Team. The e-mail will contain paperwork which needs to be completed to finalize your registration for the Career Camp and/or WBLE.

The services described above are Pre-Employment Transition Services. Seminole County School District is approved by Vocational Rehabilitation as a provider of these services.

Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) help students with disabilities advocate for themselves in the workplace, prepare for employment and gain real-world work experience.

Eligibility

Students, ages 14-21, who are currently enrolled in school, have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 and are a client of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR).

Contact your VR Counselor to request these services through Seminole County Public Schools.

Become a client of VR or the VR Pre-ETS Program

Contact your school's Transition Resource Teacher and complete the VR or Pre-ETS Program referral form.
