Resource Development

About Us

The Office of Federal Projects and Resource Development supports the development and implementation of externally funded programs that advance the mission, vision and strategic initiatives of the school district. Staff work with district and school-level grant administrators post-award to ensure compliance with funder requirements through technical assistance with award/contract administration, project and budget amendments, reporting, and project closeout.

A major focus of this work is technical assistance to district departments and schools on the requirements and uses of funds under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), currently authorized as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), as well as other federal programs and special grant initiatives at the federal, state and local levels.

Collaboration with District Departments and Schools

Please refer to the SCPS Insider - Departments - Resource Development for more information on the district's grant application process, as well as guidelines for funds management.

Collaboration with Private Schools

Under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as reauthorized by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), several federal programs require school districts to provide equitable participation of private school students, teachers, principals and other school leaders. Elementary and secondary private schools, including those in religiously affiliated schools, with non-profit status are eligible to participate in many ESSA programs, as well as IDEA and Perkins V funding programs as applicable.

An annual information session will be scheduled in October of 2024 for private schools to learn how they can participate in the available federal programs. See additional information on the Consultation with Private Schools page.
