Superintendent Serita Beamon Named Among “50 Most Powerful People of 2025” by Orlando Magazine
SANFORD, Fl: Seminole County Public Schools (SCPS) Superintendent Serita Beamon has been named one of the 50 Most Powerful People of 2025 by Orlando Magazine, recognizing her steadfast leadership, student-centered focus, and lasting impact on public education across Central Florida.
Beamon, who became superintendent in 2021 amid the turbulence of the COVID-19 pandemic, has led Seminole County Public Schools through a period of challenge and transformation while keeping her focus on what matters most, students.
“The biggest challenge I face is remaining focused on the real work of serving and educating students in an era of educational uncertainty,” Beamon said. “Everything else I do is secondary to that moral and personal commitment.”
Under her leadership, SCPS has maintained its reputation as one of Florida’s top-performing school districts. In the most recent state accountability results, the district retained its “A” rating and rose to 10th in the state, up from 12th the previous year. Beamon attributes this success to a shared effort across the community.
“These data are evidence that our students are learning, our educators are doing the right work, and our families and community members are providing essential support,” she noted.
Beamon has also emphasized the importance of partnerships in advancing the district’s mission. Her collaborations with organizations such as Leadership Seminole, the Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools, Seminole State College, and the Seminole County Council of PTAs have strengthened ties between the district and the broader community. In recognition of her collaborative spirit, Beamon was named Florida PTA Superintendent Partner of the Year in 2024.
“The women and men who serve on this Board and on the PTAs at each of our schools are true advocates for all children and for public education,” Beamon said. “They go above and beyond day after day to provide our students with supplies, food, and experiences that enrich their learning.”
As education leaders across the nation face financial uncertainty, Beamon continues to navigate challenges with grace and resolve.
“Navigating the current landscape of federal financial uncertainties has been the most complex challenge I’ve tackled this year,” she explained. “I’ve learned that I must keep people; students, teachers, and staff, first in my decision-making.”
In an era marked by polarization and shifting expectations, Beamon’s calm, principled approach has earned her the respect of colleagues and the community alike. Her steady leadership reminds all within the district that every word and action at the top reverberates through classrooms across Seminole County.
“The reactions of the School Board and district leadership permeate all levels of our organization,” Beamon said. “Words matter, and so do my actions.”
